It’s already heating up in Central Texas, and some days there’s nothing more appealing than an air conditioned movie theatre.

Wonder Woman

This is expected to be one of the biggest box office hits of the summer, and it doesn’t even have an A-List actor as the star instead going with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Chris Pine will be featured, however, and everyone love Chris Pine. This Wonder Woman film tells the story of Wonder Woman’s origin. According to IMDB, the female superhero started off as a, “princess of the Amazons” until a global threat gave her a higher calling.

All Eyes On Me

First, Netflix and ESPN gave us the in-depth story of OJ Simpson and the “Trial of the Century.” Now, Hollywood is shining a light on the other huge story from the 90s that dominated mainstream media; the story of Tupac. All Eyes On Me is about his meteoric rise to stardom and the tragic series of events that ended his life.

The House

Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell star in this comedy about suburban parents that accidentally lose their daughter’s college fund, and the casino they open in their basement in an attempt to get the money back.

War for the Planet of the Apes

So, the apes took over our planet. The CGI just keeps getting better and better as this remake of the 1970’s Planet of the Apes continues. Now, Caesar (the lead ape) the rest of his species get into a war with the group of humans that are left alive on earth. Caesar then has to decide if the continued fighting is worth it as the ape casualties mount.

Dunkirk

Harry Styles — from One Direction— and Tom Hardy star in this World War II film that actually takes place after a battle. According to IMDB, the “allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, Canada, and France are surrounded by the German army,” during an evacuation effort, and they all have to work together to find a way to escape. Dunkirk has been teased with extremely short trailers for well over a year now. Not much has been revealed about this film, which should translate to huge success at the box office as people want to find out just what Dunkirk is all about.

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power

Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth was shown in science classrooms around the country when it first came out, and it brought climate change into the mainstream conversation with startling statistics. 10 years later, Gore has made another film that shows the progress we’ve made, and just how far we still have to go.
