Clutter-free is the way to be. That’s especially true when you’re living in our community of South Austin rentals, because apartment living is infinitely more comfortable when you have space to spread out.
It’s not easy to stay clutter free, but there are a couple of simple things you can do to cut down on clutter in your apartment. The first thing you have to do, however, is commit to developing good habits. You won’t worry about cleaning and organizing once it’s just another part of your daily routine. Plus, you’ll be able to avoid those huge clean-up projects that happen when you’re expecting visitors. Imagine being able to welcome visitors to your apartment without spending the entire night frantically cleaning in anticipation of their arrival. Sounds like the life, right?
Take a look at some of the helpful bits of advice below, and please be sure to share this post with your friends and neighbors at our community of South Austin apartments for rent.
Keep personal items out of your kitchen
The kitchen is often the room the home that gets the most use, but that doesn’t mean you should leave your phone, wallet, keys and purse lying around on the counter. In fact, doing that will make your kitchen feel crowded, and you’ll end up eating out more because you don’t feel like you have space to cook. De-cluttering your kitchen will actually end up saving you money in the long run because you’ll eat out less, so think of that benefit next time you reach to open the Uber Eats app for the third time this week.
Make use of hanging storage containers
Find the extra space in your apartment that you never knew you had by hanging wire racks and baskets on the backs of doors. Hanging storage doesn’t take up any floor space, and it can often be hidden behind a door or cupboard.
Remember: cords are synonymous with clutter
Do whatever you have to do to get your cords out of sight and out of mind. We recommend investing in some cord covering strips, or cable ties at the very least some cable zippers. You’d be amazed how clean an apartment can look once you’ve hidden your cards.
Rethink the relationship between your appliances and your dishes
This is one of our favorite tips because no one ever thinks about how they organize dishes in relation to the rest of their kitchen. Your coffee mugs should be in the cupboard above your coffee maker. Your plates, bowls and glasses should be as close to the dishwasher as possible. Your pots and pans should be in the cupboard next to the stove, and your silverware should be in a drawer directly underneath your bowls and plates. This is all common sense, but most people just don’t think about it when they move into their apartment. By the time they do think about it, it seems like too much of a hassle to re-organize everything. We’re here to tell you that moving things around is 100% worth it.
