It’s time for the last blog of 2017! Love is in the air at our community of South Austin rentals, and as the holiday season approaches, we want to make sure everyone has some original date ideas up their sleeve.
This week’s post is all about the three best dates in Austin for those who’re dating on a budget. Check out the post below, and remember to share it with your neighbors at your South Austin apartment community!
Dates can be one of two things: boring or exciting. There’s no in-between, people! Kayaking around Town Lake definitely falls in the exciting category. Don’t have your own kayak? No problem! You can rent one for $10 an hour from the kiosk in front of the Hyatt hotel on Riverside. The kiosk is located on the river, between South 1st and Congress. You can even get a two-person kayak if you really trust your date to pull their weight.
All hail Peter Pan Mini-Golf! We’re big fans of this historic Austin institution. Peter-Pan Mini Golf has been around since — brace yourself — 1948! Next year, they’ll be celebrating their 70th anniversary! How cool is that? We love Peter Pan Mini Golf because it’s old and awesome, but we also love it because it’s BYOB. You can’t bring glass bottles, but you can bring pretty much anything else.
Peter Pan Mini-Golf is located in the middle of Austin, right next to the McDonald's on South Lamar and Barton Springs Rd. Besides the convenient location, we also love the wacky statues that pop up all over the golf course. There’s the giant Peter Pan statue out front, the weird alien statues in the back, and dozens of other seemingly random characters places throughout the course. Peter Pan Mini-Golf might be the best date in Austin, so grab you boo and check it out!
Quaint doesn’t even begin to describe the vibe at Blue Starlite Mini-Urban Drive-In. This little drive-in movie theatre isn’t all that far from The James on South First, so you can easily make it there after work, even if it does get dark extremely early these days. Movies start around sundown, and they usually play two movies per night. Go online and check out their ticket packages, which include spots for large cars, spots for small cars, and spots for people who want to lift their trunk up and turn their car around to lay in the back while they watch the movie. We recommend the last option.
Blue Starlite is BYOB, which is awesome. You can also buy food and drinks while you’re there, as they have an adorable little trailer behind the parking spaces. Ask about the s’more specials! You can roast your own s’mores next to a campfire while you wait for the movie to start. Blue Starlite is one of those date night destinations that can only exist in an eclectic city like Austin, so check this place out next time you feel like mixing up the classic dinner and a movie date.
